(...)». «Looking beyond the burger: insights into the “how” of deep and urgent food system transformation»

«There are many competing narratives for what is needed: Should we produce food on or off the land? Should it be done by people or machines? Should healthier and lower-carbon diets be gently encouraged, or enforced? And who should pay for the transition? How can we all as ambitious changemakers in food, whether in business, civil society, policy or elsewhere, navigate a way forward without obvious or agreed answers?»

«Local4ActionHUBs»

«The “LOCAL4ACTION HUB” notion has been developed over the last years within UCLG. It emerged as part of the sustainable development conversation as a call by members, and local and regional governments’ (LRG) to give more prominence to the role that their practices and approaches had over the advancement of the 2030 Agenda».

«Embedding Sustainability into Practice»

Começa assim:«Our latest issue is all about sustainability, often defined as long-term value creation. For New York State CPAs, that sustainability can show up in various ways—including Environmental, Social, and Governance. To remain relevant as a profession, we must find ways to naturally embed sustainable practices into our businesses, firms, and client work. I hope you enjoy our discussion on this topic, in all of its facets.

Just a decade ago, the concept of ESG did not seem to be as prevalent in the public consciousness. The concept of ESG is far from new, however, and CPAs should lead the way in embedding sustainable practices in our workplaces, wherever they may be. And we should be looking to enhance the ESG outlook of our clients and colleagues. After all, CPAs are often charged with managing, reviewing, and operating the financial and operational facets of a business.

The time is now. Regulatory bodies such as the SEC are looking to enhance and standardize reporting in ESG areas such as climate-related disclosures. But whether ESG becomes mandated or not, enhancing our focus on it is not just the right thing to do; it’s good business. (...)».

VOLTEMOS AO «SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING» NA EU

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive contributes to extending the European Green Deal across all sectors and existing regulation.

In brief

The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) amends the current Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD).
The scope of the directive is considerably extended to apply to more European and non-European companies listed and operating in the EU regulated markets.
Companies start reporting, under the CSRD, from 2024 in line with mandatory EU sustainability reporting standards and alongside an external assurance of sustainability reporting.

LEMBREMOS A «A4S» AGORA QUE O PRÍNCIPE É REI

«(...)

WHY?

The financial and accounting systems that underpin our economy focus on short term financial outcomes and do not adequately reflect the dependency of our economic success on the health and stability of our communities and the natural environment.

Companies, investors and governments are recognizing that long term sustainable performance relies on an understanding of the interdependency between financial, social and environmental factors. Action and leadership is needed to drive change so that sustainability becomes embedded in organizations’ strategy, operations and reporting. (...)».

«to Measure Governance»

«A New Tool to Measure Governance

The Berggruen Governance Index Project is a collaborative project between the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and the Berggruen Institute. The current iteration of the Index examines the performance of 135 countries in key areas over a 20-year period to advance our understanding of why some countries are better managed and enjoy a higher quality of life than others. «Companies around the world have been increasingly adopting pay transparency policies and practices as a means of narrowing the gender pay gap and fostering an engaged and positive working environment that builds trust. Pay transparency can help companies achieve these goals — but it can also have unintended consequences.

Pay transparency refers to a pay communications policy in which a company voluntarily provides pay-related information to employees — for example, about the process of the pay system (process transparency) and actual pay levels or ranges (outcome transparency), or even an open policy for employees to freely share information about their pay (communications transparency).

Why is pay transparency important? For one thing, it facilitates attracting and retaining talent, as new applicants to the workforce are demanding increased transparency with regard to pay. According to PayScale, if the process is not transparent, employees — particularly younger ones — may be more likely to leave a company within six months. For another, there can be legal implications for companies that fail to meet relevant transparency compliance standards. Moreover, public news of pay inequality at companies with more secretive pay communication practices can seriously damage their reputation, as was the case at BBC and Google. Finally, studies indicate that, at least in the short term, pay transparency may have some important benefits for employees and their employers. For example, pay transparency has positive impacts on employees’ perceptions of trust, fairness, and job satisfaction and has been found to boost individual task performance.

However, there may a dark side to pay transparency as well. Our recent global study of pay transparency involving employees in the U.S. and UK, as well as over 100 Chinese firms, suggests that there are some key caveats to consider. Here are the unintended consequences to be aware of — and how to avoid them.

Pay transparency compresses pay. (...)». Continue a ler.

PARCEIROS PELAS ARTES

«A career-spanning survey of a pivotal figure in modern art

‘With an apple, I will astonish Paris’, Cezanne once claimed. Leaving his native Aix-en-Provence for the French capital in his 20s, this is precisely what he did. Cezanne’s still lifes, landscapes and paintings of bathers were to give licence to generations of artists to break the rule book. The history of painting was never to be the same again.

Focusing on the many tensions and contradictions in Cezanne’s work, this exhibition seeks to understand the artist in his own context, as an ambitious young painter proudly from the Mediterranean South, yet eager to make it in metropolitan Paris. Featuring many works shown for the first time in the UK, the show will follow his struggle between seeking official recognition and joining the emerging impressionists before relentlessly pursuing his own unique language. We will witness an artist wrestling with what it means to be a modern painter while remaining deeply sceptical about the world he lived in, from political unrest to a continually accelerating way of life.

The EY Exhibition: Cezanne is presented in the Eyal Ofer Galleries. The exhibition is part of The EY Tate Arts Partnership. Supported by the Huo Family Foundation (UK) Limited, with additional support from Tate International Council, Tate Patrons and Tate Members. Exhibition organised by Tate Modern and the Art Institute of Chicago». Saiba mais.
