«The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation are considering whether the Foundation should play a role in the development of sustainability reporting standards»

«(...)How do the proposals interact with the IFRS Foundation Trustees’ project on sustainability reporting? The Board envisages that entities could apply the Practice Statement in conjunction with narrative reporting requirements or guidelines addressing specific topics, such as sustainability matters. The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation are considering whether the Foundation should play a role in the development of sustainability reporting standards. In April 2021, the Trustees published proposals to amend the Foundation’s constitution to enable the Foundation to create a board for setting IFRS sustainability standards.1 In the future, entities might be able to apply standards issued by that board to help them identify some of the information needed to comply with the Practice Statement.

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION

«(...)Two accomplishments that warrant special attention this year are the ways we came together as colleagues and friends to engage with and support each other as our nation confronted the effects of (1) COVID-19 and (2) the continuing disparities resulting from bias and racism. In both respects, recognizing that our human capital is our most important asset, we listened, we learned, and we took action to make ourselves and our organization better, both operationally and culturally. Here, I thank our Office of Information Technology for keeping us connected in a mandatory telework posture and our Office of Minority and Women Inclusion for driving engagement as well as the adoption of tangible initiatives to improve diversity, inclusion, and opportunity at the Commission and more broadly. Without these efforts, many of our accomplishments would not have been possible, and none of them would have been as meaningful. (...)». - JAY CLAYTON Chairman November 12, 2020.

«CLOSING THE SKILLS GAP: VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING FOR THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY»

«1. INTRODUCTION

A means to an end, the circular economy enacted on a global scale has the potential to drive us towards a net-zero, sustainable and just future. If managed well, its adoption can generate multiple benefits for the labour market while simultaneously tackling climate change, resource scarcity and closing the Emissions Gap.1 The circular economy's core strategies of closing material cycles and reducing waste hinge on processes that are labour and skills-intensive. However, who will implement the processes and technologies needed by the circular economy on the ground? These processes—which include repair, refurbishment, reverse logistics and advanced resource sorting— will require a joint venture of industry, policy, science and education, and civil society. They call for existing, new, or new combinations of skills to be applied for establishing new social practices. As such, the circular economy is likely to call for a general upskilling of the workforce in line with wider labour market trends.(...)».
